Holy Land Gift Pack – Garden of Gethsemane Souvenir
Gethsemane - Church of all nations
Holy land Gift Pack- Jordan River Water , Jerusalem's Stones and Galilee Olive Oil
Gethsemane comes from the words “Gat + Shemanim,” meaning “Olive Oil Press.” It refers to the historic grotto located beside the Tomb of Mary and the site associated with her Assumption.
Jesus often visited this peaceful place with his disciples, and according to tradition it was here that He was betrayed and arrested. Over time the entire area at the foot of the Mount of Olives became known as Gethsemane.
The Garden of Olives, located above the Grotto of Gethsemane and enclosed by a fence, contains ancient olive trees believed by tradition to have witnessed Jesus’ prayer and suffering on the night before His crucifixion.
The Church of All Nations
At the edge of the garden stands the Church of All Nations, also known as the Basilica of the Agony, built around the rock where Jesus prayed that night. Designed by the renowned architect Antonio Barluzzi and completed in 1924 with donations from Christian communities worldwide, the church reflects global Christian unity. Above the entrance is a magnificent golden mosaic depicting Jesus with His followers. Inside the church visitors can see remains of a 4th-century Byzantine church and the sacred rock where Jesus prayed.
These sacred elements carry deep spiritual meaning for Christians worldwide. The Olive Oil represents the anointing of the sick mentioned in the Bible (Mark 6:13). The Earth from Bethlehem symbolizes the Holy Land where biblical history unfolded (Mark 4:8). The Water of the Jordan represents baptism and spiritual renewal (1 Corinthians 12:13).
